Itacaré transforms ecotourism into an effective instrument for economic development and conservation of cultural and natural resources of Brazil, promoting the training of professionals and business people, in addition to implementing studies, researches and projects.
The attractions range from the innumerable waterfalls and beaches to the amazing sunset seen from the port. The canoe ride along the river is also part of the leisure options. Besides being relaxing, on the way, you can also admire the scenery on the Contas River (Rio das Contas), the mango swamps, the Cleandro waterfall. Recently the dirt road, which goes from Ilhéus to Itacaré, was transformed into a scenic drive so this paradise can be even more appreciated.
Between July and November, it is possible to admire the evolutions of the Jubarte whales that migrate to the region in this season, looking for a warmer climate and higher water temperatures, which are great for reproduction.
Between March and April Itacaré is changed into a large stage for the reproduction and egg-laying of the sea turtles which return each year to places like the Piracanga beach and the Pontal to find the necessary peace for this precious moment.
The adventure activities offered in this region are innumerous, such as: paragliding, the jump off the Adrenaline rock, rappel, cascade, mountain biking, buoy cross, Tree Canopy Walking with assistance and safety equipment, kayaking, duck and 4x4 off-road rides, throughout the Marau Peninsula.
This route takes you to the Morro do Celular (Cellular Hill), the Giant Bromelias trail, the Blue Pond and the Taipus de Fora beach, which is recommended for free diving. Today it is possible to enjoy Itacaré with a lot of adrenaline, while having the support of specially trained guides. In the city, various tourism operators offer a great variety of adventure itineraries.
